Built up in layers of black plastic, 3D prints with their fine grooves bear witness to their meticulous and mechanical design. If I zoom in close enough, I am fascinated by the contour curves, which can be read as physical or painterly traces – or as a medical imaging procedure such as ultrasound, in search of life in the noise. Based on these observations, I start working on photograms, scans and slitscans. I don‘t know exactly where I‘m heading – perhaps towards pictorial worlds between blurring and shaping, between dissolution and trace, between noise and signal, between viewing and listening, somewhere on the spectrum between black and white.
